a collaborative fabric book!

This was the second time Ann Peterson and I worked together, sending our artwork back and forth to create collaborative books. The 'Bontanica Book' shown below is Ann's creation that we both worked in, and the 'Star themed' fabric book shown below is Lenna's. We began this project in January of 2004, working with fabric to create these collaborative books.

Ann started by creating a cover and a first page and then sent the whole package to me in Connecticut. I created a page for her Botanica Fabric Book and sent it back to her so she could add a page to her own book. At the same time, I created my own fabric book - a cover and a page to go loosely inside it. I sent this book to Ann in California for her to add to. After she did, she mailed the book back to me to work in again, and so on. We exchanged this project (both books) back & forth until we felt it was "done". We finished this collaborative project in October of 2004.

I love collaborating with Ann Peterson because she always challenges me and 'talks' to me through her art. Working with fabric in an untraditional way is something we both love to do, so this was a great exchange. The only thing I regret is that our collaboration fell during a very challenging time in my life when my first husband left me and I sometimes had difficulty concentrating on my art . . . but even still, I grew through this exchange and I loved every minute of creating collaboratively with Ann - Thank YOU, AnnBeau!!
