easily showing up (more)

I've been showing up to work/play in my art journal(s) more often lately, which has been so good for me. About 2 months ago I found that a more structured journal prompt was just not inspiring me as it once did and I was struggling. Feeling bad. When I gave myself permission to give up those prompts and work on my own, I instead felt myself sail forward. During the past month I have completed at least 10 spreads in 2 art journals, wow! That is at least double what I was doing - I am so glad I listened to my heart.

I started with a scrap of paper, a test piece from my previous journal spread. The swoosh of the pink & orange paint and the rubber stamped 'test' images really pulled at me to use them. This scrap was too pretty to throw away, so it became the first thing I added to this spread in my smaller moleskine journal.

Next came these painted papers I received today from Helga Strauss of ARTchix Studio. Check out her Etsy shop!  I am so delighted with what I received.  Then, I took my journal to the sewing machine and added a stitched edge along the left side.

I wanted a little more of my own hand in the journal so I took a favorite brush and used the very fluid Dye-Na-Flow paint to make some marks and add more color.

I spritzed a little water over everything to make the paint run ever so slightly - and it was finished. These are small moleskine journal size pages (3.5" x 5")  that go very fast!

Making space {both physical + figurative} for creativity is not a guilty pleasure.
Let there be zero art guilt from today forward.
