Color Me Positive: Weeks 6, 7 & 8

Excerpts of my answers to 3

prompts for Color Me Positive

After a few weeks absence, finally this week I enjoyed working on a few prompts from the challenge Color Me Positive  that I had not been able to do yet. I got caught up over a couple of days and that felt good.

The prompt for week 6 was all about Kindness and being kind whenever possible. I have some pages in the altered book I am working on through an art journaling /Altered Book workshop called: Novel Approach. I had already created a few painted backgrounds on a number of pages. So far, I have worked on small watercolor cards for the CMP prompts, but this week I decided I wanted to finish one of my painted pages with a quote. I found and chose a quote on kindness that I loved, formatted it to fit the page in a Word Document and then printed it out onto a Clear Transparency Sheet instead of paper. I love the look! The transparency allows the painting I had done to show through, while still providing emphasis to the quote. I ran it through my xyron adhesive machine, making it into a large sticker to attach to the page.

For week 7, the prompt was HEART and putting your whole heart into everything  you do. I searched my bank of quotes again to find something of meaning to me that was related and used watercolor Crayons on a watercolor card. I hand wrote the quote, used a texture stamp and a little fine gold spray - Color Shine by Heidi Swapp, to finish this small card (3.5" x 5").

Week 8 is all about Fearlessness! I returned to another painted but unfinished spread in my Altered Book and thought about how I could finish it with this prompt. One of the "extras" you could do with the prompt was to cut out words for your page and so I got started with that. While looking, I found a picture of the First Commercial Airline Flight from St Petersburg to Tampa, FL in 1914. I would say that was pretty fearless as it was a amphibious biplane that made the journey. The painting I did in this AB was done rather fearlessly with abandon, so I think it all works well together, see below.

I love how these prompts get the wheels in motion and encourage me to think creatively! I cut out the word ENVISION from a magazine and then hand wrote "IT WORKING" above it. You can join in this challenge at anytime & start wherever you are. Hope to see you! MORE INFO HERE.
