weather report & alphabet soup, mmm!

Two Mail Art themes for our small group, we {heart} mail art . . . Weather Report and Alphabet Soup! I have not been really great about sharing our exchanges . . . definitely fell out of blogging in general. I found only 4 posts over the past few years on my blog and we do exchange mail art every other month or so - me, Julie Welsh & Jo Urbani. But recently, since reorganizing my website, I found I have an interest again in writing & sharing art. I'm just going to go with it and see where it takes me.

In December our theme was Weather Report and here's what I came up with . . .

In both cases I used Liquitex Glass Bead Texture Gel, a real weather report and then some inks! I added a bit of Oil Pastels on top and on the back, a personalized weather report with some added rubber stamping. I think I forgot to photograph my envelopes! I received two lovely cards & envelopes from Jo -top row and Julie -bottom row . . .

Alphabet Soup, or Alphabetica as I have been calling it, is our most recent mail art swap - done in February and sent in March. I decided to veer away from our usual flat cards and create a little accordion book with the letters of my friends names spelled out on the inside!

Jo and Julie sent me this below - wonderful mail art! Julie altered a Postcard book :)

I created a slideshow video to share how I painted the paper for my accordion book:

Jo Urbani, Julie Welsh & I share mail art on a regular basis. Our theme this time was Alphabet Soup, or Alphabetica! I created an Accordion Book and I share what Jo & Julie created too . . .
Creativity, as has been said, consists largely of rearranging what we know in order to find out what we do not know. Hence, to think creatively, we must be able to look afresh at what we normally take for granted.
