I’ve spent some time this week working on my blog and website. Taking the online course, Blogging from the Heart with Susannah Conway got me thinking about how I could improve this space, not only via my writing but also how it was organized. With a Squarespace site it is fairly easy to choose a different template that has the features you are looking for. I wanted a sidebar to help make the past posts I’ve written be more accessible, both for you, if you are interested - and for me when I want to illustrate something or just look back! Squarespace has an extensive help area to lead you through the different templates, describing what each one offers and how to set things up. Here’s a peek at what I’ve changed, to see it for real, go HERE.
This time is was not too hard and it did not take too long to do the major change-over, probably because I’ve done this a few times now! I am still checking things out and have a list of changes to make, but feel confident enough to invite you “in” to check it out. Please feel free to leave me any feedback, either in a comment here on this post or on the comment form on the About Lenna page. I really would like to make a good go of this site and help provide what you are interested in as well as what I want to share!
While working on the design of creativelenna.com I also continued to add my artwork. Earlier this month I had done some spreads in the Urban Journal I made last year. I will put a couple of examples below - Go HERE to see ALL the old & new pages.
I’ve somehow been keeping up with the 365somethings2018 project. I feel like a rolling stone, nothing’s going to stop me now! I have done 263 out of 365 . . .
- and they are all up on the 3rd page of the project on my website - wow!
Lastly, I got all my 2018 ICADS uploaded, joining the 5 other years I participated in this summer challenge, yee Ha!
This is a fantastic creative project, check it out HERE - one example below.
So, do you think I am a bit crazy to try to revive things here, post my art and write about it?? I started blogging in 2006 and have had a website since 1995 (a much simpler version). Sometimes taking care of it has fallen by the wayside when other things have demanded my time . . . but, I inevitably I end up missing it. I love the “diary” aspect of my creative projects spread out here over the years (and pages) of my online home. It feels to me that blogging and maybe even websites are not necessarily that popular anymore. What do you think??? — if you feel like answering, I’d love to know what you think about blogging!
No matter what, I have this feeling I want to try to keep this current again. Try to do it better. Try to keep a record of my art and my life. To reach out, to share and connect. That is what I like best about doing this work.
Thanks for listening. Hope to see you on the flip side!
yours creatively, lenna
