another version -This too shall pass

This is the Rube Goldberg version of This Too Shall pass by OK Go, a band I love for their talent and uber creativity. Earlier this week I shared a Notre Dame marching band version of this same song! This video is well worth watching just to see the "machine" they created for it. There are even 4 short videos describing their process making the set -you'll find them as related videos when this one is done -click on YouTube at the bottom to see them. I hope you enjoy!!

chandler is magic -part 1

Soon after we moved to the home we are renting here in Florida, we met our neighbors Bean & Chandler. They were both so friendly and welcoming! The first day we met them at a community picnic, they invited Steven and I over to their home later that day, to meet some of our other neighbors. Chandler then surprised us by doing a bit of his professional magic and mind illusion act. He describes it on his web site: as "magic as entertainment" and it most certainly is! Here is a short video of a small part of Chandler's show - the rings - that was shot by my husband Steven, in Chandler & Bean's backyard! Chandler has been delighting people all over the world for 25 years on stage, television, comedy clubs and corporate events . . . I like to think of this show as a special neighborhood engagement!

I wanted to do something special for Bean & Chandler because of their kindness. I thought a long time about what I might make and collected some related things. I visited Chandler's web site and copied a few photos of him, I made color copies of playing cards (he uses these a lot) and especially one card Steven had signed that ended up as part one of the shows Chandler has done for us. We have seen him do his illusions a number of times now and each time he floors me even more with his incredible talent!! It is truly amazing. I can only upload a 100 MB video here, so what you see above with the rings is just a tiny part of what Chandler does.

I wanted to add photos of what I made for them in this same post, but it is not allowed with the upload of this video included here - so i will make a second post for that!

just for fun - a creative video

I own one Subaru now and quite a few in my past, plus two dogs now and many in my past, so I am probably partial to this . . . but I thought it was SO funny!

You can see all of Subaru's 'Dog Tested' videos here: www.youtube.com/Subaru -they certainly brought a smile to my day!

OK Go - This Too Shall Pass - Rube Goldberg Machine version

YouTube - creativelenna's Channel: <--- Click on this link to see a really creATive video. It's quite amazing, actually. From the video: "The official video for the recorded version of "This Too Shall Pass" off of the album "Of the Blue Colour of the Sky". The video was filmed in a two story warehouse, in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles, CA. The "machine" was designed and built by the band, along with members of Syyn Labs over the course of several months."
My son Decklin sent me this link because he knew I love Ok Go's creativity- I think I have featured another one of their videos here before - Here it goes again.  In fact in the new video, that video makes an appearance again : ) enjoy! lenna young andrews - March 10, 2010.

days with you

My son Decklin sent me a link to a song and animated film by Jason Webley, an artist whom i had never heard of before. It was so interesting that i searched for more videos by the same artist and found this song i love so much that i wanted to share here with you -
i hope you enjoy! Thanks decklin, for everything . . . most of my computer knowledge! Find my animoto created art videos and my favorite YouTubes on my own creativelennaYouTube channel!

part 2 - collage notebooks!

i did finally get back into my studio and worked on some collaged notebooks for a local gift shop. I want them to be simple and beautiful, and not take too much time to do because they cannot be too expensive . . . . I created three more today, relying on words and images from ARTchix Studio.com, plus scrapbook papers, rubber stamps, velvet leaves and whatever else I could find that seemed to fit!
You can see all of the notebooks here in a set on my flickr account. I have 4 more i plan to decorate, maybe this weekend. It's back to Stonewall Kitchen tomorrow!

I really do enjoy doing this type of art . . . gathering items i think might work, searching for something the piece "needs" and adding to it until it feels done. it makes me happy to do this and i feel proud when i am done. Here's another thing for me to be proud of -- today i created a YouTube channel for myself -wow! In the future I would like to have videos of my lessons or at least demos of techniques. But at the moment I am getting a lot of enjoyment out of creating Animoto videos. I mentioned this earlier this week. Animoto takes photos that you choose plus music you select, analyzes it and combines it all into a very cool little video. I could share these videos on my blog or by sending you a link but i could not send you to see all the videos i created on Animoto. So, the YouTube channel was the answer to that. It is like a little web page of my videos i have created and i am sure I will add to it. http://www.youtube.com/creativelenna. yes, another web site for me, geeze. I wonder if Decklin knew what was going to happen when he created the original one!! hope you enjoy, lenna young andrews, October 1, 2009

just for fun - Here it goes again!

Steven found this last night while looking through YouTube . . . he knew I would like it - well, I LOVE it so much I had to share it! It is so creative and fun and I think it speaks to me because of all the years I danced, practiced choreography & performed. This video took a lot of practice!! In looking up the website and blog for this band I see that the Director of this video won awards for it; it does not surprise me. This is the type of music I grew up with in my 20's and 30's and still enjoy. I sent the link to both my boys, Decklin in Cambridge, MA (27) and Dallas in Trieste, Italy (24) -whose musical tastes run in this direction, but you know what? I bet they will tell me they already know all about it, silly mom!
