I've been showing up to work/play in my art journal(s) more often lately, which has been so good for me. About 2 months ago I found that a more structured journal prompt was just not inspiring me as it once did and I was struggling. Feeling bad. When I gave myself permission to give up those prompts and work on my own, I instead felt myself sail forward . . .

Yes, something fishy is going on! I went back to working in my larger 9" x 12" Dylusions journal. ;o)  I did this because the other morning I went on an "artist's date" with myself, to a local art store in Bradenton. There, I found the most interesting handmade paper. Yesterday, I gave myself permission to play with some new stencils and use the results in my art journal. I started out by testing on plain paper.  I grabbed a leftover scrap piece of paper that had spray inks over a stencil. On top of this, I added acrylic paint with a sponge over the new August 'Stencil Club stencils' from StencilGirl designed by Terri Stegmiller. . . . .

Well, I must admit that I have not jumped in and created a bit of mixed media art every day. But, I have managed to do so a few times a week. Yeeha! This is very good! Let me share with you what I was able to do -and rather quickly, I might add. This morning I grabbed my watercolor crayons and a piece of watercolor paper, cut to the size of an index card . . .
