1994 stamped shirt wears well!

It was the day after Christmas and I was looking for something lightweight, but long sleeve to wear (outside) while enjoying a fire Steven that was making in our chimenea fire pit.

Looking in my closet, my eyes spied this cotton shirt I had stamped many moons ago. It has been washed many times, but still looked good - a perfect choice for me! I had not worn it for a while, so I did not remember this immediately . . . but later found out from my signature on the back of the shirt, that I created this in 1994! wow. How time flies . . .

I remember stamping this particular shirt with fabric paints, as inks were not widely available then. I made a homemade stamp pad with plain felt in a recycled foam tray and spread the paint on the felt evenly. I practiced on similar cloth and after stamping the real shirt, I let the paint dry. I ironed it with a hot iron very well to ‘heat set it’. This is why this shirt still looks so good . . . after 27 years, yikes!

Next, I used fabric markers to add color to the leaves and flowers. The design I did mostly utilizes one small stamp. It’s 3 or 4 sprigs of a tiny leaf that I stamped repeatedly to make a vine. There is also the large PSX Pansy stamp on the front pocket.

It was SO fun to wear it again! And Steve made it fun to model it so I could write about it . . . .

Perhaps I should jump right into a bit a fabric stamping again??

:0) I used to be quite known for it!

You can see more of my fabric stamping in this gallery ❤
