52 weeks of creativity -art swap, stitching, family

Jan 29-Feb 11, 2020: Catching up with weeks 5 & 6 of my 52 weeks of creativity.

This was a busy time for me as my family was coming to visit for a week on Feb 9th. Also, the first week I was swapping out the Stitchie swap and totally forgot about about posting this update! I spent quite a bit of time on the 2nd week working on finishing Dallas’ quilt and preparing for their arrival. As I write, it’s the 7th week of 52 weeks of creativity (Feb 12-18) but this post will concentrate on weeks 5 & 6.

And I’m still working out the best way to track these 52 weeks via blog posts. They display fine on a desktop computer or tablet, but on my cell phone, all of the photos will not load! So, I have to work on this. I’m going to try to tweak my display options and see if I have success. If not, I’ll contact Squarespace.

Dallas quilt was on the bed when they arrived! I just need to add the finishing touch of applying seam binding around all the edges. They enjoyed the quilt while they were here and were amazed! I’ll be sending the finished quilt to them soon!

A beautiful Chelsea boat ride on Gap Creek, week 5 . . . .

I enjoyed time in the backyard taking photographs - yes, cold enough for a fire!

Time spent with my 3 year old granddaughter was amazing, but also very scary when she was sick with a fever, that caused her to have a seizure! I learned this is common, but it was quite frightening at the time. Dallas called the EMT’s and we got help right away. The medicine brought her fever down, Eleanor felt better and we all enjoyed the rest of the week together. She loved running around at Selby Gardens Rain Forest and it was so good to see her smile & laugh! I will have a few more photos next time.

Besides all of this, I did manage to do a few Stitch meditations. I’ve slowed down my pace creating them, but feel I’m simply giving myself grace. SO far I have created 86 of these 4”x 4” fabric pieces and my goal is to create 100 and then make a quilt/wall hanging with them!!

Thank you so much for stopping by! Lenna

This being human is a guest house. Every morning is a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor... Welcome and entertain them all. Treat each guest honorably. The dark thought, the shame, the malice, meet them at the door laughing, and invite them in. Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
