Lesson 3 : Wanderlust

Well, I made it in the nick of time! I finished Lesson 3 with Carolyn Dube — just as Lesson 4 for Wanderlust was being unveiled!

This lesson was very interesting. We used stencils with gel medium, something I have never done before. I did not have any regular gel medium, only ‘Self Leveling’ Gel Medium and Matte Medium. I believe this affected my results, but I am not sure! I’ve never tried this technique of gel medium with stencils before. What I did myself was not comparable to what Carolyn showed us in her lesson . . . my samples were OK, but not quite what I was hoping for. I look forward to getting some regular gel medium and trying this again. Below are some of my samples.

Even though what I did was not quite “up to par” … I thought it was good enough for me to press on with the rest of the lesson, creating a journal page with some of the pieces I made. My favorite words that I created were “YOUR OWN STORY” and so I went with that. I looked through my collage bits and already printed photos & transparencies. Carolyn’s lesson was also about Emotions & Feelings . . . and those words led me to thinking of OUR STORY = me & Steven. That was all I needed to plan a page spread about us!

So enjoyable. I do not think I will ever tire of our story!

Art journaling is about the creative process of pulling together color, words and images as you wish on a page. Unlike many other forms of art, it is not about the outcome.
