Leaf Prints

Leaf Prints

I realized today I had shared my latest Animoto video in a couple of places -on Facebook and Blipfoto, but not on my blog! The story is, my husband Steve came home last week with some wild looking leaves that had been eaten by insects. He and Dave Lucas had picked them up outside the boatshop. Dave said, "wouldn't Lenna like these for stenciling or something?" . . . .

working small

working small

I find myself returning to my small moleskine journal, again & again, page after page! The 3.5" x 5.5" size means it does not take a lot of time to complete a spread and it is fun to do. While I was gone in Boston Steven surprised me by drawing a cartoon of our cat Lightning, scanning it & emailing it to me! Steven is an excellent cartoonist and it was such a treat to receive this when we were apart. It made me laugh!! When I got home I framed the original drawing, as you'll see below.  I also found his "practice" drawings in my studio . . . .

Finished Table

Finished Table

The table is now finished. See this post if you missed part 1. Actually, that would be part 1 of the second life of this table. Steven made the table 2 years ago, I stamped it & we actually used it so much that the finish had worn down. Table Stamping

Table Stamping

I did some table stamping today, revitalizing a collaboration from 2 years ago. This is a table my husband Steven made and then I stamped. The top finish had gotten quite scuffed because we use the table so much. I asked Steven to refinish it with coats of polyurethane to bring the sheen back. But first, I decided to add more stamped designs!  Here's what the table looked like prior to us working on it today, pretty simple. Steven had to scuff it with some fine sandpaper before I could add more stamping. When he refinishes it these lines will all melt away . . . you need to scuff it up for the finishing clear coats to adhere properly . . .

still here . . .

Even though I am still packing boxes (not done yet) and helping steven hand-carry over a number of odd shaped things, I find myself still here taking some photos. Thus, the new blog header I put together using Photoshop, Picasa and Picnik (through Picasa). Kind of silly, but not really I guess! I still have that an urge to do SOMETHING creative and my studio is completely packed up!!!!!!! This is hard to believe but true. The contents of my desk are the only things in my studio, that have not been packed and will soon be. The printer and scanner are still here, but we will hand carry those over closer to Moving Day. Yesterday Steven moved the studio cabinets over . . .

we are very lucky to have this luxury of moving in a bit at a time.

Chloe investigating the back yard . . . .

I hope you are safe tonight, thinking of my family & friends in the Northeast. Love, lenna
